Forestry Minister Raja Juli Reports to KPK After Returning Bupati's Envelope
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni reported a gratification rejection. The report concerns an envelope that Raja Juli said was left behind by Kuansing Bupati Suhardiman Amby during a meeting and was subsequently returned.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated on Monday (6/7/2026) that the report was submitted the previous Friday. Budi said the report would be verified, after which the KPK would provide an explanation of the results. The process is based on KPK Regulation Number 1 of 2026. The KPK has previously stated that returning money does not eliminate the criminal element.
Plt Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, said the return of the money would be investigated further by the team of investigators. The KPK has also opened the possibility of summoning Raja Juli for questioning if his testimony is required.
Raja Juli clarified that the meeting with Suhardiman Amby on 2 June 2026 was an open audience. He explained that the bupati left an envelope covered by a folder in his office. Upon realising this after the bupati had left, Raja Juli immediately instructed his aide to return the envelope, stating he did not know its contents and felt he had no right to it.
The aide returned the envelope at the Kuantan Singingi Police Station on 12 June 2026, 17 days before the bupati was caught in a sting operation. Raja Juli showed reporters the receipt and photos of the return meeting.
