Forestry Minister Raja Juli Ready to Cooperate with KPK in Kuansing Bribery Case
Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has stated he will support the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) efforts to combat corruption. He confirmed he would comply with a summons if the KPK requires his testimony. The statement was made in connection with the development of a sting operation case against Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby, which has been linked to issues surrounding the release of forest areas. “We from the Ministry of Forestry, especially I as the forestry minister, fully support all efforts to eradicate corruption in this republic. So we will assist the KPK, as my good faith to help the law enforcement and corruption eradication process,” Raja Juli said in a written statement on Friday. Raja Juli stated he has been mandated to create transparent and anti-bribery forest governance. He said he would assist the KPK in eradicating corruption, particularly within the forestry sector. “I have been mandated by the President to create forest governance that is anti-corruption, anti-bribery, accountable and transparent. Once again, we appreciate what the KPK is doing. We will help the KPK because this is part of the reform process within the Ministry of Forestry if there is indeed a problem,” he said. Raja Juli also confirmed the Ministry of Forestry is open to the entire investigation process conducted by the KPK. He stated he is ready to assist, whether with documents or testimony, if required by the KPK. The KPK previously stated it would investigate a meeting between Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby and Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni on 2 June 2026. The meeting discussed various proposals from the regency government regarding the resolution of forest area issues overlapping with community land. The KPK had earlier named Suhardiman as a suspect in a case of alleged bribery and gratuity related to the release of a Limited Production Forest area. The case was uncovered through a sting operation conducted on 29 June 2026.
