Forestry Minister: Enhance piety through protecting forests and biodiversity

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has invited the public to protect forests and biodiversity as a form of increasing piety values during the Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah holiday. The Forestry Minister, Raja Juli Antoni, in Jakarta on Sunday, explained that one meaning of Eid for him is the increase in piety values, with one standard that piety has increased being how high our love for the forest is. “How high our love for the forest is; one indication of the success of our fasting in this context is the level of our piety with the level of our concern for the forest and biodiversity,” said Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni. Previously, the Forestry Minister also stated that he would not hold an open house and announced this to his subordinates at the Ministry of Forestry. He said this was in accordance with the appeal from President Prabowo Subianto. This step was taken to give opportunities to all staff and ranks at the Ministry of Forestry to utilise the holiday and return to their hometowns. However, on the other hand, in a coordination meeting with managers of national parks and nature tourism areas, he ensured the Ministry of Forestry’s readiness to face the Idul Fitri holiday. Specifically highlighting President Prabowo Subianto’s directives regarding “zero waste and zero accident” or no waste and no accidents. “President Prabowo also requests that the management of national parks and nature tourism areas pay attention to zero waste, have sufficient rubbish bins and personnel. Then prioritise zero accident, ensure no victims due to lack of safety facilities, prepare medical teams, ambulances, or adequate health centres,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (18/3).
