Jakarta (ANTARA) - Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has confirmed that the government is accelerating the handling of forest and land fires in a number of regions that have occurred recently.

In his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, the minister said President Prabowo Subianto has asked him to keep going into the field and ensure that the forest and land fire handling instructions given to ministries, agencies, and regional governments are truly implemented.

“In accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s order to me, I have been asked to keep going into the field. Yesterday the President went to West Kalimantan, then he ordered me to check again whether the orders he conveyed, both to ministries and agencies at the central level and in the regions, have been implemented or not, have been executed or not,” he said.

Furthermore, the Forestry Minister recently also led a coordination meeting on forest and land fire handling in Jambi together with Deputy Governor of Jambi Abdullah Sani, Deputy for Emergency Handling at BNPB Major General Budi Irawan, Head of BMKG Jambi Province Tri Agus Pramono, Jambi Regional Police Chief Inspector General Krisno H. Siregar, Head of the Jambi High Prosecutor’s Office Sugeng Hariadi, Commander of Military Resort Command 042/Garuda Putih Brigadier General Nyamin, as well as Manggala Agni personnel and volunteers.

In addition, he stressed that coordination meetings must produce concrete action on the ground.

“I will check later roughly which of his orders have not been carried out. We will accelerate them one by one so that, as he always says, meetings are productive. So what is ordered, we carry out,” he said.

The Forestry Minister said that under President Prabowo’s orders, the government is present on the ground for the people.

“Do not doubt that the government is present on the ground. We are committed to working hard, with everyone going into the field, but of course, as has been said, prayer is also important,” the minister said.
