Forestry Minister Affirms Governance Reform Amid Kuansing Corruption Case

Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni has emphasised improvements to forest governance following the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) investigation into alleged corruption implicating the Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing). The minister stated in Jakarta on Saturday that this aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s mandate to create transparent and bribery-free forest governance. “The Ministry of Forestry is open to assisting the KPK in efforts to eradicate corruption. We appreciate what the KPK is doing,” said Raja Antoni. He further confirmed that the Ministry of Forestry is ready to assist the KPK with documents or information required as part of the governance reform in the forestry sector. “We will help the KPK because this is part of the reform process at the Ministry of Forestry if there is indeed a problem. If documents are needed, or if we are summoned, God willing, we will comply because this is in the context of eradicating corruption and improving our forestry sector,” the minister stated. Raja Antoni also clarified his meeting with Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby, which took place on 2 June 2026 at the Ministry of Forestry office as an official audience. He noted that the regent had sent an official request letter for the audience, which was conducted openly and published on the ministry’s official social media platforms. The minister confirmed that minutes of the meeting were taken and that the ministry would proactively provide any necessary documents to the KPK to facilitate the eradication of corruption.
