Forest Zone Task Force Seizes 1,583 Hectares of PT Sukses Jaya Wood Land in West Sumatra — Reasons Behind Licence Revocation
Jakarta — A 1,583-hectare area belonging to PT Sukses Jaya Wood in West Sumatra has been reclaimed by the Forest Zone Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH).
Satgas PKH spokesperson Barita Simanjuntak said the seizure was linked to the revocation of licences held by 28 companies, one of which is PT Sukses Jaya Wood (SJW).
"This relates to the licence revocations that were decided in January for these companies, and which have since been followed up by the Ministry of Forestry," he said on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
Simanjuntak explained that PT Sukses Jaya Wood's licence was revoked because the company had been negligent in fulfilling its obligation to manage at least 30 per cent of its forest concession area, allowing the land to be occupied by unauthorised parties.
"The company failed to carry out its obligations in safeguarding the licensed area it had obtained, resulting in negligence that allowed encroachment by parties with no rights to utilise the forest zone covered by its licence," he said.
The reclaimed land will be handed over to the state for future management by parties whose use aligns with the area's designated purpose.
"The regulations for this will naturally be arranged by the Ministry of Forestry with regard to forest product utilisation and investment. Where it relates to industry or other purposes, that falls under the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM," he said.
Previously, Satgas PKH released a list of 28 companies found to have violated forest zone utilisation regulations.
State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the 28 companies comprised 22 holders of Forest Utilisation Business Approvals (PBPH) for natural and plantation forests, as well as six companies in the mining, plantation, and timber product utilisation sectors.
The 22 PBPH-holding companies named include PT Aceh Nusa Indrapuri, PT Rimba Timur Sentosa, and PT Rimba Wawasan Permai, all based in Aceh.
Additionally, those based in North Sumatra include PT Anugerah Rimba Makmur, PT Barumun Raya Padang Langkat, PT Gunung Raya Utama Timber, PT Hutan Barumun Perkasa, PT Multi Sibolga Timber, PT Panei Lika Sejahtera, PT Putra Lika Perkasa, PT Sinar Belantara Indah, PT Sumatera Riang Lestari, PT Sumatera Sylva Lestari, PT Tanaman Industri Lestari Simalungun, PT Teluk Nauli, and PT Toba Pulp Lestari Tbk.
