Forest Task Force Saves Rp 400 Trillion in Forest Land, Prabowo: We Will Eradicate Poverty
President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his appreciation for the success of the Forest Area Order Task Force (Satgas PKH), which has secured more than 6.2 million hectares of forest area with a value of nearly Rp 400 trillion. Prabowo emphasised that the preservation of assets is a vital step in safeguarding national wealth so that it can be utilised to the greatest extent for the benefit of the people.
“The Forest Area Order Task Force has saved more than 6.2 million hectares. If you had not saved this, it would have been lost; this wealth, valued at nearly Rp 400 trillion, would have vanished,” said Prabowo during the handover ceremony of forest regulation results at the Attorney General’s Office, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (6/10/2026).
According to Prabowo, the vast value of the state wealth successfully recovered can provide tangible benefits to the community if managed optimally. He noted that the nearly Rp 400 trillion could be used for various public interests, ranging from poverty alleviation and housing construction to the renovation of schools and health facilities.
“With Rp 400 trillion, we can eradicate poverty; with Rp 400 trillion, how many thousands of houses can we build for the people, how many thousands of schools can we repair?” he stated.
Prabowo cited an example where the government has repaired approximately 70,000 schools with a budget requirement of around Rp 90 trillion. He believes that with the recovered state wealth, the government’s capacity to improve the quality of various public facilities, including schools and community health centres (puskesmas) across Indonesia, will increase significantly.
In addition to forest areas, Prabowo also highlighted the government’s success in regulating illegal mines. He specifically mentioned government efforts to reduce tin smuggling practices on Bangka Island, which have impacted the performance of PT Timah.
“On Bangka Island, tin smuggling has been mitigated; we have reduced it, and while some still slip through, we have enforced order strictly. PT Timah, which had been suffering losses, has seen its profits increase by 900 per cent in one year,” said Prabowo.
He asserted that this achievement is the result of the hard work of the Satgas PKH alongside various other state institutions. Prabowo also highlighted the efforts of Customs in uncovering smuggling practices worth trillions of rupiah, as well as the ongoing eradication of narcotics networks by the National Narcotics Board (BNN).
Furthermore, Prabowo emphasised that the government will not cease its efforts in reform and regulation. He also encouraged state-owned enterprises to continuously improve governance and cleanse themselves of practices that harm the state.
“Those who do not wish to cleanse themselves, just wait for their time, because we will not stop, and we will not hesitate,” he asserted.
For Prabowo, the success in reclaiming millions of hectares of forest area and regulating illegal mining is not only about saving current state assets but also about preserving the nation’s wealth for future generations. The recovered state wealth can expand the government’s ability to meet various societal needs.
“We will have funds to increase the salaries of teachers, all civil servants, judges, prosecutors, and police; we will have money to help hungry people. We have money to build houses, money to repair irrigation systems, and money to combat forest fires,” he added.
