The forest on Mount Ciremai caught fire again on Wednesday (21 October 2026). Officials and local residents worked together to try to extinguish the blaze.

Eska Nata Suryana, the Mount Ciremai National Park (TNGC) coordinator for data, evaluation, reporting and public relations, said the fire broke out at Grid 15 M, at coordinates -6.847357, 108.432047, in the Pasawahan Resort of the Kuningan Region I Technical Management Unit.

“The fire started at around 8.44 pm Western Indonesian Time,” Eska said on Thursday (22 October 2026).

After learning of the fire, teams from TNGC’s forest and land fire response unit, the Jabalnusra regional fire response unit, the Fire-Aware Community (MPA), the Forestry Ministry’s Manggala Agni fire brigade, several TNGC tourism partners and residents living near the forest immediately headed to the site and worked together to put out the flames.

Official photographs from Mount Ciremai National Park showed flames blazing in the darkness, with smoke billowing high into the air.

Asep Sonjaya, public relations officer for the Silihwangi Majakuning Fire-Aware Community, added that the fire was in the TNGC area of Pasawahan, which borders Seda village in Mandirancan district, Kuningan regency.

“MPA members in Mandirancan and Pasawahan have gone to the site,” he said.

In a written statement, TNGC urged the public to help protect the Mount Ciremai National Park forest.

“We strongly urge everyone to be more vigilant, not to burn anything in or around the forest, and not to leave fires unattended on land,” it said.
