Perum Bulog is mapping the requirements for rice assistance for communities affected by forest and land fires (karhutla) in several regions of Kalimantan. This mapping is being conducted alongside local governments to identify areas in need of food support amidst the disruption caused by haze.

The President Director of Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that haze conditions in several Kalimantan regions have temporarily disrupted service activities and distribution. Some areas have even experienced thick haze that has limited visibility, forcing Bulog’s services to adjust to the conditions on the ground.

“Alongside the disruptions caused by smoke from the impact of forest and land fires, Bulog continues to implement programmes as usual, but under current conditions, we are adjusting to the advisories from the government,” said Rizal during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday (1/9/2026).

He mentioned that several areas, such as Sampit, were covered by haze. This condition meant that services could temporarily not be conducted normally due to very limited visibility, which has the potential to hinder the distribution process of aid.

As the forest fire situation develops, Bulog has begun coordinating with local governments across several Kalimantan provinces. Coordination is being carried out with the regional governments of West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and other areas to map the community’s assistance needs.
