The forest and land fire (karhutla) occurring in Bonebae 2 Village, Ulubongka District, Tojo Una-Una Regency, Central Sulawesi, has been successfully controlled after personnel from the Central Sulawesi Regional Police Brimob Unit joined a joint team to carry out firefighting operations.
The firefighting process took place on Friday, 29 August 2026, involving personnel from the Brimob Unit, Bhabinkamtibmas (community police officers), Tojo Una-Una Regency Firefighters, and local residents.
The Company Commander (Danki) 3 of the B Pioneer Battalion, Central Sulawesi Brimob, Police Commissioner Bakhdar, stated that personnel were immediately deployed upon receiving reports of the fire in the area.
“As soon as we received the report, we deployed personnel to the location. This rapid response is crucial to ensure the fire does not spread and expand to other lands,” said AKP Bakhdar in Tojo Una-Una on Sunday, 30 August 2026.
Upon arriving at the scene, the joint task force immediately moved to extinguish the fire points using available equipment. Simultaneously, field coordination was conducted to prevent the flames from spreading to other plots of land or approaching residential areas.
According to Bakhdar, rapid handling was key to ensuring the fire did not cause wider impacts on community-owned land.
“We carried out the handling as quickly as possible to control the fire points and prevent the fire from spreading to other areas,” he added.
During the firefighting process, Brimob personnel, Bhabinkamtibmas, firefighters, and residents worked shoulder to shoulder to control the fire until the situation at the location was resolved.
Bakhdar added that cross-agency collaboration and community involvement are vital components of preparedness in facing forest fires, as well as efforts to protect residents’ land in Bonebae 2 Village from the threat of larger fires.
