Forest Fire Erupts on Mount Paseban in Bandung Regency
The West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported a forest and land fire in the Mount Paseban area, Kutawaringin District, Bandung Regency, on Monday afternoon (27/7/2026). Officers are still working to extinguish the flames. Hadi Rahmat, a public relations officer at the West Java BPBD, confirmed the fire and stated that personnel remain on site battling the blaze. βThe forest and land fire is suspected to have been triggered by human error and fanned by wind,β he said on Monday. Previously, the West Java Climatology Station of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) revealed that the region has entered the dry season, noting it arrived earlier and is expected to last longer than usual. Forecaster Vivi Indhira said the dry season had already begun in March for areas such as Bekasi City and northern Karawang Regency, while other parts entered the dry period in April. She added that 56 per cent of West Java is predicted to enter the dry season in May, with most of the remaining areas following in June. Compared to normal conditions, 66 per cent of the region is forecast to experience an earlier onset of the dry season.
