Forest development centers set up
JAKARTA: The Ministry of Forestry has established four Centers for Regional Forestry Development Control to coordinate and synchronize plans among related institutions concerning forests, nature reserves, river basins and hunting grounds.
A press statement released by the ministry on Thursday said the centers, formed under ministerial decree No. 103/2004 signed on April 12, will also supervise and evaluate forestry planning and management at the regional level.
The four centers will deal with different areas, with the Region I covering Sumatra and its surroundings, Region II Java, Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Region III Kalimantan and Region IV Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua. -- JP
