Forest and Land Fires in West Aceh Intensify, Burned Area Reaches 34.1 Hectares

A number of personnel from the West Aceh Police and officers from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) are attempting to extinguish forest and land fires (karhutla) in the peatland area of Cot Seumeureng Village, Samatiga, West Aceh, Aceh, on Friday (12/6/2026). According to data from the BPBD West Aceh Control and Operations Centre (Pusdalops PB), the forest and land fires that have been occurring over the past two weeks have continued to spread from 22 hectares to 34.1 hectares, scattered across the sub-districts of Bubon, Johan Pahlawan, Samatiga, Meureubo, and Arongan Lambalek, triggered by hot weather and strong winds.
