Forest and Land Fire Task Force extinguishes fires in Muara Enim
The Forest and Land Fire Task Force (Satgas Karhutla) has successfully extinguished forest and land fires in Karang Raja Village and Dalam Village, Belimbing District, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra.
Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Muara Enim Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Alvi Gumara, said the fires occurred on Friday (14 August) at around 8.40 pm local time.
The fires were detected through the SiPongi application at coordinates S 3.4354 E 104.0280 and Lat. -3.666678° long 103.801835°.
The burned area in Karang Raja Village covered one hectare, while Dalam Village saw three hectares affected.
“The burned area consists of shrubland, and the cause is not yet known for certain,” he said.
In response, the agency formed two teams to be deployed to the two locations to extinguish the fires and prevent them from spreading further.
Firefighters tackled the flames from land routes, bringing adequate equipment including three fire engines, one water supply vehicle, three nozzles, and 16 rolls of machino hose.
The joint team travelled 54 kilometres to the site in Dalam Village and 10 kilometres from the main Karhutla command post to the second location in Karang Raja Village.
“Alhamdulillah, since last night the fires at both locations have been completely extinguished,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to all personnel involved in the firefighting effort, who worked to extinguish the flames so that they did not endanger public safety.
