Forensic Team Awaits Lab Results to Determine Cause of Death of Sutrimo
The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police forensic team is conducting in-depth laboratory examinations following the exhumation of Sutrimo’s body to determine the exact cause of his death. The autopsy was completed on Wednesday (12/8) at the Bantaragung Cemetery, Wlahar Village, Wangon District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java.
Head of the Forensic Team, Professor Ahmad Yudianto, explained that laboratory tests are crucial because no signs of sharp force trauma were visually detected on the body. Given that the body had been buried since 23 July, the decomposition process over nearly three weeks limited the scope of visual physical examination. The medical team took comprehensive samples from the head to the feet to ascertain the cause of death.
Professor Yudianto estimated that the entire series of laboratory examinations would take approximately two to three weeks. Meanwhile, the Head of the Police Medical Laboratory Bureau, Brigadier General Sumy Hastry Purwanti, confirmed that the exhumed body was identified as Sutrimo based on specific physical characteristics, namely the absence of a left big toe and a scar on the lower right side of the body, matching the family’s description.
The investigation involves a cross-institutional team as part of a scientific crime investigation approach. The Head of Public Relations for the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stressed that the involvement of various experts aims to maintain objectivity, integrity, and accountability in uncovering the case.
Former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, along with the family, has formally requested the public to refrain from developing wild speculations regarding the death of Sutrimo. Through a member of his legal team, Febri Diansyah, the family expressed their deep condolences and stated they fully respect the ongoing investigation process being conducted by the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police. The family hopes that the legal process will clarify the facts of the incident and prevent unfounded speculation or assumptions.
