Forensic Laboratory Processes Scene of Homemade Bomb Explosion in Tasikmalaya

A homemade bomb exploded at the Dadaha sports complex in Tasikmalaya City, West Java, on Saturday night. A team from the Indonesian National Police’s Forensic Laboratory (Puslabfor) visited and combed the blast site. The team, led by the Head of the Forensic Metallurgy Sub-directorate of the National Police’s Puslabfor, Kompol Heriyandi, conducted a series of checks and research at the location of the explosion. The four-person team was seen meticulously observing the blast site, which was located near a public street lighting pole. Their activities were accompanied by officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tasikmalaya City Police. After conducting an examination lasting approximately 30 minutes, the Puslabfor team was not yet able to provide a statement. ‘For information, please wait for the Police Chief later, because this is not yet finished,’ said Kompol Heriyandi. The Commander of the Gegana Detachment of the West Java Police Mobile Brigade, Kompol Iyus Ali Yusup, who led the investigation and sterilisation process of the scene, stated that the detonated homemade bomb was classified as a low-explosive device. The investigation results suggest the bomb, which was triggered by a remote control, was allegedly designed not to injure people. The bomb maker is suspected of merely creating a loud explosion effect without causing damage.
