Forensic Doctor Reveals Condition of Man Found Dead in Rental House
A forensic doctor from Buleleng Regional General Hospital has revealed the results of an external examination on the body of Supandri Ponco Wahyudi (39), a man found dead in a rented house at BTN Dencarik Garden, Dencarik Village, Banjar District, Buleleng. The examination found signs of decomposition as well as swelling on the victim’s cheek and eye area.
Forensic doctor at Buleleng Hospital, Dr. Klarisa Salim, explained the body was received by the hospital on Wednesday (15/7/2026) in the early hours at the request of Buleleng Police investigators for an external examination. “We received the body around dawn. We then received a request from the police to conduct an external examination. The examination was carried out from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. WITA,” Klarisa said on Thursday (16/7/2026).
Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim’s identity was unknown and he was recorded as Mr. X. The forensic team then carried out an identification process alongside the physical examination. According to Klarisa, the body’s condition had already entered the decomposition phase, meaning several changes to the body had occurred. This condition made the examination more limited. “From our examination, we found signs of decomposition. Changes to the face and body had already occurred, so the most important thing we did was identify the body,” she said.
Nevertheless, the forensic team still found swelling on one of the victim’s cheeks and the eye area. “In general, we found swelling on one cheek area and then on the eye area, but it was not too significant in the eye area,” she added. Based on the examination results, the victim is estimated to have died around 24 to 36 hours before the examination was conducted. However, Klarisa stressed this timeframe is only an estimate and not a definitive time of death. “But note once again, that from that time, it could be later or earlier,” she explained.
After all examination procedures were completed, the victim’s body was returned to the family on Wednesday afternoon in accordance with applicable standard operating procedures. “The body was returned to the family around the afternoon according to the applicable flow and SOP,” she said.
Meanwhile, Banjar Police Chief Kompol Made Mustiada said the investigation is still ongoing even though the family refused an autopsy on the victim’s body. “The family refused an autopsy and has made a written statement declining an autopsy. But we are continuing the investigation, including searching for the victim’s friend,” Mustiada said. He explained the investigation is being conducted by Banjar Police together with the Buleleng Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Buleleng Police Inafis team.
According to Mustiada, police are also still searching for the person who rented the house where the victim was found dead. “For now, we are still investigating,” he said when asked about the whereabouts of the tenant. Regarding the cause of the victim’s death, Mustiada could not yet draw a conclusion as he is still awaiting the investigation results. Based on family statements, the victim had contacted his parents and said he was ill before he was found dead. “From the initial examination, the victim had called his family saying he was sick. That is based on statements from his family,” he said.
Supandri was previously found dead in a rented house at BTN Dencarik Garden, Dencarik Village, Banjar District, on Tuesday (14/7/2026). Police are still investigating the cause of the victim’s death. Buleleng Police Public Relations Head, First Inspector Yohana Rosalin Diaz, revealed that the rented house where the victim was found was actually rented by someone else. The tenant’s whereabouts are currently unknown and are being sought by police. Initial investigation results indicate the house was rented by a man named Putu Gery Mahesa since early July 2026.
