Foreign words for shop titles

TANGERANG (JP): Despite the existing government ban on the use of foreign words for business titles, dozens of shops and restaurants in Lippo Karawaci commercial center here have been words from the Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages on their shop signs.

"There is a 1991 presidential decree which bans the use of foreign languages for shop titles but it doesn't carry any sanction," Tangerang administration spokesman Slamet Putranto said on Friday.

Probably because we're now living in a reform era people feel free to use foreign words on their shop signs, he added. (41/edt)
