A foreign woman went on a rampage in Gili Trawangan hamlet, Gili Indah village, Pemenang sub-district, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. She lost her temper whilst residents were holding a tadarusan — a communal Quran recitation — on the first night of Ramadan.

In a video that has since gone viral, the foreign woman can be seen shouting in front of a musala (small prayer room) as residents were reciting the Quran using a loudspeaker. Gili Trawangan hamlet head Muhammad Husni said the woman felt disturbed by the sound of the tadarusan.

"What she took issue with was the tadarusan activity, because she was disturbed by the sound of the speaker," he said on Thursday (19 February 2026).

According to Husni, the woman then entered the musala to stop the residents' activity. She even damaged the microphone being used for the recitation.

"In the end she came to the musala, then immediately went into a rage and damaged the microphone and everything else," he said.

A confrontation became unavoidable. The foreign woman became involved in a verbal altercation with residents. During the incident, one resident sustained scratching injuries.

"One of the residents was even injured. She scratched someone, because they were defending themselves. One of the community figures at the musala was even knocked to the ground," Husni said.
