Foreign Tourists in Labuan Bajo, NTT Rushed to Hospital After Earthquake
Two Chinese tourists were injured in an earthquake in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The two foreign visitors, who were staying at the Jayakarta Hotel in Labuan Bajo, were immediately rushed to Siloam Hospital Labuan Bajo.
“They were taken to hospital. One has a back injury, another has injuries to the nose and leg,” said a relative of the victims in the grounds of the Jayakarta Hotel, Labuan Bajo, on Saturday (15/8/2026).
Information about the injured tourists was also conveyed by the victims’ relatives to police who arrived at the scene. The two tourists were injured while trying to save themselves when the earthquake struck.
The Jayakarta Hotel was one of the buildings affected by the earthquake in Labuan Bajo. The front wall of the four-star hotel appeared damaged and part of the wall had collapsed. Brick debris was scattered about, and the ceiling on the ground floor of the hotel had also caved in.
It is known that an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 shook Nagekeo Regency, NTT, this morning. As of 08:45 WITA, BMKG had recorded 44 aftershocks in the NTT region.
