Foreign Selling Pressure Eases, JCI Rises 10% in July
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) stated that foreign selling pressure throughout July had subsided. Chief Executive of Capital Market, Derivative Finance, and Carbon Exchange Supervision, concurrently Member of the Board of Commissioners, Hasan Fawzi, said this was reflected in the movement of the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI), which rose compared to June 2026. According to him, the domestic stock market in July 2026 showed a strengthening trend, supported by a number of positive developments both domestically and internationally. The JCI was recorded closing at 6,236.13 at the end of July, an increase of 10.51% on a month-to-month basis. “Selling pressure by foreign investors in the stock market was also recorded as having subsided throughout July 2026, seen where there was a net buy position from foreign investors worth Rp 1.62 trillion,” he said in a virtual press conference on Tuesday (4/8/2026). Hasan continued that domestic capital market liquidity also appeared to be maintained, with the average bid and ask spread in the stock market in July 2026 at 1.33%. “This even narrowed compared to the previous month, which was recorded at 1.75%. This is certainly in line with the direction of recovery in the movement of share prices in our market,” he stated. In line with the improved performance in the stock market, the performance of the investment management industry also remained positive. The Net Asset Value (NAV) of mutual funds reached Rp 663.26 trillion as of 30 July, an increase of 1.59% month-to-date. Mutual fund investors recorded a net subscription of Rp 3.43 trillion on a month-to-date basis, while the total year-to-date net subscription was recorded at Rp 1.29 trillion. On the other hand, the number of investors in the capital market continued to show an increasing trend. This is also in line with the results of market deepening initiatives and efforts to strengthen the digital ecosystem in the capital market industry. The addition of investors was recorded at 1.1 million in July 2026 on a month-to-month basis, bringing the total number of investors to 30.06 million, a growth of 47.63% year-to-date. Hasan added that fundraising by domestic corporations in the domestic capital market was also observed to remain strong. Up to the end of July 2026, the year-to-date fundraising value reached Rp 121.96 trillion. “Currently, there are still 15 public offering plans in the pipeline,” he said.
