Foreign national beaten to death in Blok M reportedly stayed with suspect
A foreign national from Brunei Darussalam, identified as MHF (30), was beaten to death in Blok M, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, after reportedly staying with suspect MIA (33).
“Indeed, the guest stayed with us, and they were here for just over a week with the intention of watching a concert,” said Darwin, Front Office Manager of a South Jakarta accommodation, to reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He stated that the group consisted of eight people, both men and women.
However, he could not confirm the issue between the suspect and victim during their stay. Nevertheless, Darwin believed they came to Jakarta to attend a concert.
“As for the issue, we don’t know, as the initial information we received upon check-in was simply that they were here to watch a concert,” Darwin added.
He further revealed the group checked out on 14 May 2026, while the victim was declared dead two days later.
“We were informed that police visited about three days after the check-out date, which was the 14th,” Darwin said.
Polda Metro Jaya’s Head of Public Relations, Commissioner of Police Budi Hermanto, stated on Tuesday that the incident, triggered by an argument, resulted in the victim, identified as MHF (30), being killed after being struck with a glass bottle by suspect MIA (33).
A joint team from the Mobile Brigade Subdirectorate, General Criminal Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, South Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit, and Kebayoran Baru Police Station immediately launched an investigation.
Suspect MIA was arrested without resistance on Monday, 25 May, in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. The Bruneian foreign national is currently detained at Polda Metro Jaya headquarters for further legal proceedings.
