A foreign national has allegedly become the victim of pickpocketing in Karet Kuningan, Setiabudi, South Jakarta. Police are investigating the case.

Setiabudi Metro Police Chief AKBP Riyanto stated that officers are currently examining the crime scene. The police have not yet received a report from the victim regarding the incident.

“Officers are checking the crime scene and trying to ascertain the victim’s identity,” AKBP Riyanto said on Tuesday (30/6/2026).

The pickpocketing occurred on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Kuningan, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, this morning. The foreign national was pickpocketed whilst walking on the pavement near the Setiabudi LRT station and the pedestrian bridge area.

It was reported that the victim’s wallet was stolen by a group of individuals. The theft was witnessed by locals and recorded, with the video subsequently going viral on social media.

Police are also searching for evidence at the scene to further the investigation, including CCTV footage and witness statements. The victim has been urged to report the matter to the police station to provide additional leads for the inquiry.

“Yes, we will check around the crime scene, because the circulating video is also unclear,” he stated.

Police have appealed to the public to report any disturbances to security and public order via the Polri call centre on 110.
