Foreign Ministry Searches for Two Indonesians Held Hostage in Myanmar
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is tracing the whereabouts of two Indonesian citizens (WNI) reportedly held hostage in Myanmar. The ministry has sent a diplomatic note to the Myanmar government to assist in locating the two individuals, identified by the initials AE and S. Heni Hamidah, the ministry’s Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens, stated that communication with relevant parties is ongoing, but further details regarding the alleged ransom demand of Rp200 million and the identity of the captors cannot yet be confirmed. The ministry, together with the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon, continues to coordinate with local authorities to locate the two citizens and ensure their protection.
