Foreign Ministry: Qatar not at war with Iran, only defending itself

Doha’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said Qatar is not at war with Iran and is exercising its legitimate right to defend itself. Spokesman Majed Al-Ansari said Qatar was not taking part in any attacks targeting Iran. ‘We are using our right to defend ourselves and to deter Iran’s attacks against our country,’ he posted on X. He urged media to refer to credible Qatari sources when reporting on Qatar.

Earlier on the same day, several Israeli journalists cited Western sources claiming that Qatar had carried out strikes against Iran in the previous 24 hours. On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on a number of targets in Iran, including Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties.
