Jakarta — Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry is preparing a visit by President Prabowo Subianto to Japan from 29-31 March and South Korea from 31 March to 2 April.

According to the Japanese Foreign Ministry website, President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to make an official state visit with an agenda that includes attending a state banquet with the Japanese Emperor.

Additionally, Prabowo is scheduled to hold meetings with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry stated that President Prabowo’s visit will represent a significant opportunity for both nations to strengthen their comprehensive and strategic partnership.

This presidential visit will be Prabowo’s first official visit to Japan as Indonesian president. Previously, Prabowo visited Expo 2025 Osaka in the Kansai region of Japan in September 2025 in a personal capacity.

According to Yonhap news agency, the two leaders will discuss practical cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, defence and security industries, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, shipbuilding, nuclear energy, energy transition, and the cultural sector.

It is also noted that the two national leaders will discuss ways to enhance Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) relations with South Korea as well as security situations and other global issues.

The meeting between Prabowo and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung will be their second encounter since early November, when they met on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea.
