The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) has confirmed that the International Stabilization Force (ISF) will operate with limited force and will only be deployed in Gaza, Palestine.

“From our national caveats, I want to highlight several points, such as a non-combat and non-demilitarisation mandate. No targeting of any particular party. Use of force is highly limited. The deployment area is restricted to Gaza,” said Caka Alverdi Awal, Director of International Peace and Security at Kemlu, at the ministry’s headquarters in Central Jakarta on Friday (27 February 2026).

Caka also confirmed that the deployment of ISF personnel will be contingent upon Palestinian consent. Indonesia also rejects any demographic changes and forced relocation of Palestinian civilians.

“Palestinian consent as a prerequisite. Rejection of demographic change and forced relocation. Respect for sovereignty and the right to self-determination,” he stated.

Caka noted that Indonesia’s deployment in the ISF can be terminated at any time.

“And most importantly, it can be halted at any time,” he added.

Previously, at the inaugural Board of Peace meeting in Washington DC on Wednesday (19 February) local time, ISF Commander Major General Jasper Jeffers announced that he had offered Indonesia the position of deputy commander, and that Indonesia had accepted the offer.

At the same occasion, President Prabowo Subianto confirmed this and pledged to deploy Indonesia’s finest personnel to support the ongoing peace process in Gaza.

“They asked us to be deputy commander,” President Prabowo said.
