Foreign Minister Sugiono will represent President Prabowo Subianto at the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States, next week. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkan stated that Sugiono will attend the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly.

“The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Mr Sugiono, will attend a series of meetings during the High-Level Week of the 8 extsuperscript{th} UN General Assembly session in New York, scheduled for next week,” said Yvonne, as quoted on Friday (18/09/2026).

Yvonne noted that the agenda revolves around the main theme, “Restoring trust, managing transformation: a United Nations that delivers for all.” She mentioned six key priorities for the meetings: peace and security, sustainable development, climate and environmental action, human rights, digital governance and AI, and UN reform.

“During this series of meetings, the Indonesian Foreign Minister is scheduled to attend approximately 22 meetings or agenda items, including the General Debate and several mandated sessions. The primary message Indonesia will convey during the General Debate is the importance of strengthening national and regional resilience to achieve global resilience,” she said.

Yvonne added that the Indonesian government will bring several key messages to the assembly, primarily regarding its commitment to world peace.

“Indonesia’s participation in this High-Level Week will also carry messages including the strengthening of multilateralism, inclusivity, a commitment to world peace—specifically for Palestine—our role as a bridge builder, UN reform, the strengthening of the Global South, and our national development achievements,” she explained.

Sugiono is also scheduled to attend other agendas in New York, such as meetings with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the MIKTA multilateral forum.

“The Indonesian Foreign Minister will also attend various other high-level meetings such as MIKTA, OIC, and various other agendas. And certainly, as usual, the Foreign Minister will also conduct a significant number of scheduled bilateral meetings; it is going to be quite a hectic week in New York,” she said.
