Foreign Minister Sugiono Appoints Two New Special Advisers, Here Are Their Duties

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Foreign Minister Sugiono appointed two new officials to fill the positions of Special Staff to the Foreign Minister (Stafsus Menlu) on Thursday (23/4/2026). This step is taken as part of strategic efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s diplomacy on the international stage.

Based on the official announcement posted on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ social media account, Minister Sugiono has appointed Tri Tharyat as Special Staff to the Foreign Minister for Strengthening Multilateral Issue Policies. Meanwhile, the position of Special Staff to the Foreign Minister for Strengthening Special Issue Policies is now held by Muhammad Anshor.

The appointment ceremony was witnessed directly by the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and senior leadership ranks within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The presence of these two special advisers is expected to provide sharper policy analysis and support for the Foreign Minister, particularly in facing increasingly complex global geopolitical dynamics.

Sugiono conveyed a message for the newly appointed officials to immediately carry out their duties with full integrity.

He emphasised the importance of providing the best contributions to strengthening Indonesia’s diplomacy, in line with the government’s vision to enhance the country’s active role in various international forums and the resolution of strategic issues.

This appointment, he continued, marks the ministry’s commitment to continuously strengthening its internal structure with experienced expert personnel to safeguard national interests abroad.

Sugiono added that with the affirmation of Tri Tharyat and Muhammad Anshor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs now has a more solid advisory team to navigate Indonesia’s foreign policy in the future.
