I believe this is a form of pride that we have successfully produced a vehicle that has been used by the President since his inauguration. Then, he (the President) instructed yesterday to bring it there, and the response I received from my fellow colleagues was also positive,” said Sugiono, as seen on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday (11/5/2026).

“And this is the pride of the nation that we can appear in an international forum with supporting equipment and our own national production, especially this vehicle used by the President,” he stated.

It is known that President Prabowo Subianto first used the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine presidential vehicle during a foreign visit while attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines. The Maung was flown directly from Indonesia to Cebu using an Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) Airbus A400M aircraft.

Quoted from the Palace Press Bureau on Sunday (10/5), the presidential vehicle produced by PT Pindad had arrived in Cebu earlier on Monday (4/5). From the belly of the TNI AU Airbus A400M aircraft, the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine was brought directly from Indonesia to support Prabowo’s mobility during the state agenda.

This light tactical vehicle also attracted attention amid the line of vehicles from ASEAN member states during the Summit in Cebu. Prabowo is said to have chosen to use the nationally produced vehicle as a representation of Indonesia’s strategic industry capabilities on the world stage.

The Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine is the latest variant of the Maung family developed by PT Pindad. This vehicle is specifically designed from the MV3 platform as the official vehicle for the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia with high standards of security, comfort, and performance.

Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya emphasised that the use of the Maung in an international forum has a meaning far beyond just the operational function of the presidential vehicle.

“The use of the Maung in an international forum is not merely a means of transportation, but as a symbol of independence, national self-confidence, and the advancement of Indonesia’s national industry. The Maung becomes a symbol of diplomacy. From within the country, for Indonesia, appearing on the world stage,” said Seskab Teddy in his statement.

According to Teddy, the journey of the Maung to Cebu becomes a symbol of the country’s readiness to bring national strategic products to perform at the international level. The presence of the vehicle also demonstrates that Indonesia’s defence industry works can stand side by side and are trusted to support state agendas at the highest regional forum in Southeast Asia.
