Foreign Minister Reveals Jordan Ready to Support Indonesia in Deploying Troops to Palestine
AMMAN, KOMPAS.com - Foreign Minister Sugiono revealed that Jordan is ready to support Indonesia when it sends peacekeeping troops as part of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to Palestine. He stated this after attending a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, at the Basman Palace, Amman on Wednesday (25/2/2026) local time. “During the meeting, the current situation in the Palestinian territories, in the West Bank, was also discussed, but the main point is that Jordan is also ready to provide support to Indonesia when we send troops,” said Sugiono at Marka Air Base, Amman, Wednesday. “Furthermore, several technical matters regarding military aspects will also be mutually assisted,” said Sugiono. Sugiono further explained that the bilateral meeting between the two state leaders also discussed several potential areas of cooperation that have been explored. This potential cooperation had previously been discussed during King Abdullah II’s visit to Jakarta in November 2025. “There was also a discussion about several areas of cooperation that have been discussed during the last visit of the King of Jordan to Jakarta. And there has been some progress and there will be follow-up on several matters that still need to be addressed,” said Sugiono. Previously, it was reported that the Indonesian government is ready to send TNI troops for peace in Gaza, following Indonesia’s joining of the International Stabilization Force. This certainty was conveyed directly by President Prabowo Subianto when attending the Board of Peace (BoP) Summit with US President Donald Trump and a number of other state leaders in Washington DC, US, this week. “The achievement of the ceasefire is real, we commend this. And therefore, we reaffirm our commitment to contribute a significant number of troops, up to 8,000 or more if necessary,” said Prabowo at the BoP Summit, Thursday (19/2/2026) local time. Prabowo said that the deployment of troops would take place in the near future. “Perhaps, yes, the advance groups, maybe not too long, maybe in the next 1-2 months,” said Prabowo.
