President Prabowo Subianto is set to visit France again. However, the exact timing and agenda for the upcoming visit remain unspecified.

This plan was announced by Foreign Minister Sugiono during a discussion at the Bina Graha Building in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026). Sugiono initially explained the results of Prabowo’s visit to France, where he met President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday (14/4).

“The meeting was held in a closed-door, one-on-one format, but some points that I can share on this occasion are that, of course, the President conveyed to President Macron, re-emphasising the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and France,” said Sugiono.

Sugiono stated that the two heads of state agreed to enhance cooperation, particularly in the defence sector. This is considered crucial given that Indonesia has long obtained several main weapon system equipment from France, thus requiring strengthened mastery of that military technology.

“What follows is the desire to collaborate in the field of education, particularly in the STEM sector, so that what is termed cooperation beyond procurement occurs—we do not limit ourselves to just buying, but also carry out technology transfer and mastery of technology from the items we purchase,” he said.

In addition, the talks between the two countries also encompassed global issues currently of concern, such as energy and the utilisation of critical minerals. Cooperation was also explored in other sectors, including education, the creative economy, and transportation.

“The discussions also naturally addressed, as it is felt worldwide, matters concerning energy, the utilisation of critical minerals, education, the creative economy, infrastructure, and transportation,” he said.

This Gerindra General Secretary then revealed that Prabowo will visit France again. However, the precise timing was not specified.

“And also the planned state visit by President Prabowo to France, which will take place in the near future,” he said.

Furthermore, Sugiono conveyed that the close personal relationship between the two heads of state serves as an important asset in strengthening Indonesia-France bilateral relations. He assessed that this tight rapport can drive the acceleration of cooperation in various strategic fields.

“And as we all know, the personal relationship between the two Presidents is very close, which will serve as a significant capital in enhancing bilateral relations between Indonesia and France,” he said.
