Foreign Minister Requests 742 Peacekeeping Troops Heading to Lebanon Return to Indonesia Healthy
JAKARTA - Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono delivered a message and expressed hopes to the 742 TNI personnel ready to be deployed on 22 May to replace the Indonesian troops currently in Lebanon.
Sugiono reminded them that, despite their status as peacekeepers, the operational environment they would face was far from peaceful.
Therefore, he advised that their skills should be utilised while always prioritising safety factors.
“It is a pride for me to meet you all at this time, and it would be an even greater pride for me to meet you all when you return to the homeland in good and healthy condition,” Sugiono stated, quoted from a written statement on Monday (11/6/2026).
Sugiono gave this message during a visit to the TNI Peacekeeping Mission Centre (PMPP) in Sentul, Bogor, West Java, together with Presidential Chief of Staff General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs General TNI (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago.
The visit was conducted to directly ensure the readiness of the peacekeeping troops who would soon be assigned.
In the same statement, KSP Dudung Abdurachman assured that the 742 TNI personnel had received maximum training from the PMPP.
He also provided guidance for the soldiers to maintain safety, uphold the good name of the Indonesian nation, and carry out their primary duties to the best of their ability.
He also highlighted the special regard in which TNI soldiers are held by the international community.
“Because of this peacekeeping mission, especially the Indonesian army, they are highly sought after there for their friendliness, care, and seriousness in carrying out tasks,” he explained.
Dudung requested prayers and blessings from all Indonesians so that this noble task would proceed successfully and smoothly.
“To all Indonesians, we request your prayers and blessings, may all these troops carry out their duties smoothly, we hope they return safely, and the peacekeeping mission can proceed successfully,” Dudung concluded.
The inspection was also attended by Deputy Minister of National Development Planning/Deputy Head of Bappenas Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, Head of International Relations Division of Polri Inspector General Pol Amur Chandra Juli Buana, and Commander of TNI PMPP Major General Iwan Bambang Setiawan.
