Foreign Minister Reports 36 Indonesian Citizens Registered for Second Wave Evacuation from Iran
Tangerang — Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that 36 Indonesian citizens (WNI) have registered to participate in a second wave evacuation from Iran.
However, he noted that the registration process for Indonesians wishing to be evacuated is still ongoing, so the schedule for their return will be discussed further by the government.
“Registration has only just begun. The number is 36 citizens. We will discuss the timing later, as there are several matters related to the situation,” Sugiono said at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang on Tuesday (10 March 2026).
This approach is intended to ensure that the evacuation process can proceed smoothly and that Indonesian citizens can arrive in Indonesia safely.
“We will discuss it first because there are several matters related to the situation. You can see for yourselves,” he added.
Additionally, the government continues to coordinate with Indonesian representatives in Iran to ensure the return process is conducted safely.
Nevertheless, the government hopes the second wave evacuation can be carried out in the near future.
“Hopefully, they will have arrived by this week,” Sugiono said.
The evacuation is being conducted following deteriorating security conditions in the region.
