JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) fell back below the psychological level of 7,000 at the close of trading on Friday (8/5/2026). Amid such market pressures, foreign investors instead snapped up a number of large-cap or blue-chip stocks. Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the JCI closed down 204.925 points or 2.86% at 6,969.396. This sharp correction also ended the four-day rally since early May 2026. Amid such pressures, foreign investors recorded a net buy of Rp 11.42 trillion in weekend trading. Stocks in the banking, telecommunications, consumer, and commodities sectors became the main targets of foreign investors.
