Foreign Investors Sell Off Leading Indonesian Stocks, Here is the List
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Foreign investors have returned to net selling in the domestic stock market amidst a collapse of the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) by more than 4% during Monday’s (8/6/2026) trading session. Interestingly, this wave of selling is not only targeting cyclical stocks but also large-cap stocks that have long served as the primary proxies for the Indonesian market.
According to trading data, foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp447.1 billion across the entire market, with a total transaction value reaching Rp21.42 trillion. The heaviest selling pressure from foreigners occurred in jumbo banking stocks, with BBCA recording a net sell of Rp489.1 billion, followed by BBRI at Rp298.5 billion, and BMRI at Rp46.1 billion.
Beyond the banking sector, foreign selling has spread to defensive and commodity stocks. TLKM recorded the third-largest net sell at Rp136 billion, followed by ANTM at Rp132.7 billion and AMMN at Rp77.6 billion. This condition indicates that foreign selling has become widespread and is no longer focused solely on specific sectors.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) plummeted deeply, extending the sharp correction trend observed over the last three months. Based on trading data, at the close of the second session, the IHSG stood at 5,342.14, dropping 252.63 points or 4.52%. During intraday trading, the index even touched a low of 5,317.91.
This correction means the IHSG’s decline since the beginning of the year has surpassed 38%, while from its peak on 20 January 2026, the index has slumped by 41.51%.
Massive selling occurred across almost all parts of the market. A total of 661 stocks were recorded as weakening, while only 78 stocks gained and 78 remained stagnant. The transaction value reached Rp21.73 trillion, with trading volume hitting 32.52 billion shares and transaction frequency reaching 2.22 million times.
