Foreign Investors Return to Indonesian Equities, Bank Mandiri Top Pick
Foreign capital flows have returned to the capital market alongside a strengthening of the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG). Foreign investors recorded net buying in the Indonesian stock market during the trading week of 13-17 July 2026. After posting net selling the previous week, foreign funds have now returned with a value reaching Rp441.4 billion, supported by significant purchases of banking stocks and large-capitalisation issuers. Shares of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) were the main target for foreign investors, with net buy value reaching Rp557.6 billion on the regular market. Meanwhile, PT Paragon Karya Perkasa Tbk (PKPK) recorded a jumbo foreign net buy due to a transaction on the negotiated market worth Rp983.3 billion. The next positions were occupied by PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) at Rp243.6 billion and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) at Rp237.9 billion. In addition, foreigners also snapped up PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) at Rp133.1 billion, PT Timah Tbk (TINS) at Rp66.8 billion, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM) at Rp61.3 billion, and PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN) at Rp52.2 billion. The IHSG posted an impressive performance throughout the trading week of 13-17 July 2026. After fluctuating early in the week, the IHSG eventually closed 4.24% higher at 6,175.535, marking its largest weekly gain in several months. The IHSG’s strengthening occurred amid increased trading activity. The average daily transaction value rose 36.25% to Rp13.99 trillion from Rp10.27 trillion the previous week. Meanwhile, the average daily transaction volume surged 27.75% to 26.17 billion shares, while transaction frequency increased 24.60% to 2.33 million times per day. The market capitalisation of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) also increased by 3.95% to Rp10,749 trillion.
