Foreign Investors Offload These Shares as IHSG Surges
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Amid a 1.68% strengthening of the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) in trading on Thursday (20/8/2026), foreign investors continued to sell a number of large-capitalisation shares.
Overall, however, foreign purchases reached Rp5.354 trillion, while sales were recorded at Rp4.674 trillion. Foreign investors thus posted a net buy in the Indonesian stock market of Rp680.5 billion in yesterday’s trading.
PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA) was the share most heavily offloaded by foreign investors, with net sell reaching Rp120.9 billion. The next position was occupied by PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) with net sell of Rp106.9 billion. Foreigners also sold shares of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) amounting to Rp58.5 billion.
Furthermore, PT Merdeka Gold Resources Tbk (EMAS) recorded foreign net sell of Rp55.3 billion, followed by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) at Rp48.1 billion.
Foreign selling pressure was also seen in shares of PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) with net sell of Rp47.2 billion, PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT) Rp42.6 billion, and PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) Rp41.2 billion.
Two other large shares that entered the top list were PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM) with net sell of Rp41 billion and PT Timah Tbk (TINS) at Rp38.3 billion.
Although a number of jumbo shares were offloaded, the selling action was unable to hold back the IHSG’s advance. The index closed at 6,501.59, up 107.46 points or 1.68%.
