The Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) fluctuated during the first trading session today, Tuesday (29/09/2026), amid ongoing pressure following the new Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) policy regarding minimum share prices which came into effect yesterday.

The IHSG closed the first session down 12.86 points or 0.21% to the 6,135 level. At the opening, the index stood at 6,118.81, and selling pressure was immediately felt from the start of trading, hitting a daily low of 6,013.08 at approximately 09:30 WIB. The market later showed signs of recovery, briefly strengthening to a daily high of 6,150.55 towards 11:00 WIB, before profit-taking dragged the index back into the red.

Transaction value was recorded at Rp7.34 trillion with a volume of 231 million lots, while 451 stocks weakened, 262 stocks remained stagnant, and only 250 stocks gained.

This high volatility coincides with the implementation of the IDX policy reducing the minimum share price from Rp50 to Rp1 per share in the regular and cash markets since Monday (28/09/2026), which has triggered selling pressure on several ‘gocap’ (Rp50) stocks. Externally, tighter global monetary policies, a strengthening US dollar, and rising energy prices continue to shadow emerging markets, including Indonesia, while the rupiah weakened against the US dollar in early weekly trading.

In line with the index’s decline, according to Stockbit Securities data, foreign investors recorded a significant net foreign sell of Rp365.88 billion across the entire market throughout today’s first session.

Overall, the foreign transaction value in the first session reached Rp5.61 trillion, with details showing foreign buys of Rp2.62 trillion and foreign sells of Rp2.99 trillion.

The largest foreign selling occurred in PT Adira Dinamika Multi Finance Tbk. (ADMF) with a value of Rp243.05 billion—far exceeding other stocks. Following this was PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. (BMRI) which saw foreign outflows of Rp104.54 billion, followed by PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BBCA) at Rp75.20 billion.

Additionally, foreign investors also sold PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (TLKM) by Rp63.57 billion, PT Alamtri Resources Indonesia Tbk. (ADRO) by Rp39.89 billion, and PT Bukit Asam Tbk. (PTBA) by Rp38.33 billion.

On the other hand, several stocks remained targets for global investors. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBRI) was the most collected stock by foreigners, with net purchases reaching Rp66.87 billion, followed by PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk. (TPIA) at Rp30.93 billion.
