The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) moved flat during the first trading session on Monday (3/8/2026), as market participants weighed a series of domestic and global sentiments set to colour trading throughout the week. Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), at 12.00 WIB the IHSG stood at 6,234.29, down slightly by 1.83 points or 0.03% from last week’s close of 6,236.13. The transaction value was recorded at Rp7.68 trillion with a trading volume of 23.09 billion shares in 1.39 million transactions, with 323 stocks rising, 294 falling, and 169 unchanged.

The index’s sluggish movement occurred amid a weakening in Asia-Pacific markets. Japan’s Nikkei 225, Topix, and South Korea’s Kospi all opened in the red, despite US President Donald Trump stating he had called off plans to attack Iran, opening the door to de-escalation of conflict in the Middle East. Domestically, investors are awaiting the release of July inflation data, the manufacturing PMI, the trade balance, and a press conference from the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK).

According to data from Stockbit Sekuritas, amid the relatively flat index movement, foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp363.53 billion across all markets during the first session. Total foreign transaction value in the session reached Rp3.72 trillion, comprising foreign buy of Rp1.68 trillion and foreign sell of Rp2.04 trillion.

The largest selling action was seen in state-owned banking stocks, with PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBRI) experiencing net foreign sell of Rp72.81 billion. It was followed by PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. (BMRI) which was sold for Rp68.94 billion, and PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk. (TPIA) at Rp57.56 billion. Other stocks experiencing significant foreign selling included PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk. (AMMN) at Rp38.48 billion, PT Barito Pacific Tbk. (BRPT) at Rp38.31 billion, PT Merdeka Gold Resources Tbk. (EMAS) at Rp29.06 billion, and PT Astra International Tbk. (ASII) at Rp25.42 billion. Selling pressure was also seen on PT Intermedia Capital Tbk. (MDIA) at Rp23.84 billion, PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk. (BREN) at Rp19.14 billion, and PT Indika Energy Tbk. (INDY) at Rp15.07 billion.

Conversely, several stocks remained targets for global investors. PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (TLKM) was the most collected stock by foreign investors with a net buy value of Rp73.49 billion, followed by PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BBCA) at Rp44.15 billion. Foreign investors also bought up PT DMS Propertindo Tbk. (KOTA) at Rp22.77 billion, PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk. (BRMS) at Rp20.43 billion, PT Gudang Garam Tbk.
