Foreign Investors Net Sell Rp 2.4 Trillion, Here Are 4 Recommended Stocks and ETFs for This Week
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) rose slightly by 0.18% throughout the trading session from 4-8 May 2026. The index’s movement tended to be sideways amid the tug-of-war between positive global sentiment and domestic regulatory pressures.
The IHSG continued its strengthening for three consecutive days. The gains were supported by the easing of geopolitical tensions between the United States (US) and Iran, as well as the release of Indonesia’s gross domestic product (GDP) data.
Indonesia’s economy grew by 5.61% on an annual or year-on-year (yoy) basis. This figure exceeded market expectations and bolstered confidence in the resilience of the domestic economy’s fundamentals.
The strengthening momentum began to halt on Friday (8/5/2026). Negative sentiment emerged after the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) announced a proposal to increase mineral royalty rates.
Foreign investors also continued their selling actions. The net sell value was recorded at Rp 2.4 trillion in the regular market.
This data indicates that the IHSG’s strengthening was largely supported by domestic fund flows.
Global and domestic sentiments still overshadow the market
Equity Analyst at PT Indo Premier Sekuritas (IPOT), Hari Rachmansyah, stated that market movements from 11-13 May 2026 will still be influenced by global and domestic dynamics.
Trading this week will last three days due to national holidays and joint leave for the Ascension of Jesus Christ on 14-15 May 2026.
Hari said that global geopolitical developments remain the primary concern for market participants.
“Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his confidence that the Ukraine war will soon end. This statement was made just hours after he delivered a speech affirming Russia’s determination to win during the Victory Day celebration in Moscow, which was more subdued compared to previous years,” Hari said in a press release on Monday (11/5/2026).
Based on data from the Kalshi prediction platform, the probability of a hantavirus outbreak becoming a serious threat this year is only 21%.
“This figure indicates that market participants do not yet consider this issue as a risk that needs to be significantly factored in,” he added.
