Foreign Investors Net Buy Rp12.3 Trillion Last Week, What's Happening?
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Foreign investors recorded a jumbo net foreign buy of Rp12.265 trillion across the entire market during trading from 4-8 May 2026. However, the strong influx of foreign funds was largely supported by special transactions related to corporate actions on shares of PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAPI) and PT Pinago Utama Tbk (PNGO).
Based on trading data, MAPI was the stock with the largest net foreign buy, reaching Rp11.854 trillion. The value of foreign purchases in the lifestyle retail stock amounted to Rp11.917 trillion, while foreign sales were only Rp63 billion.
Pacific Universal Investments Pte. Ltd. acquired MAPI by purchasing 8.47 billion shares, or 51% of MAPI’s shares, at a price of Rp1,395. Through this transaction, control of MAPI shifted from PT Satya Mulia Gema Gemilang to the Singapore-based investment holding company.
Meanwhile, PNGO was taken over by a Hong Kong-based company, AEP Nusantara Holdings Limited. A total of 732.17 million shares changed hands at an average price of Rp3,584.
Outside of these two stocks, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) became the stock with the largest foreign accumulation in the regular market. Foreign investors booked a net buy of Rp761.8 billion in BBRI shares, with total transaction value reaching Rp4.48 trillion.
Foreign movements in BBRI lifted the shares up 8.31% over the week to the level of 3,260.

The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) managed to close with a slight strengthening throughout last week’s trading amid market volatility and foreign selling actions on several big cap stocks.
Based on data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), the IHSG rose 0.18% over the period of 4-8 May 2026, from the level of 6,956.80 to 6,969.39. Over the week, the IHSG moved in the range of 6,921.60 and briefly touched the high of 7,207.07.
Although the IHSG’s strengthening was relatively limited, market transaction activity increased significantly in line with the two corporate actions in MAPI and PNGO stocks. The average daily transaction value jumped 26.14% to Rp23.05 trillion, while the daily transaction volume rose 23.57% to 45.85 billion shares.
In terms of sectors, the infrastructure sector became the best-performing sector after surging 5% over the past week. The financial sector also rose 1.97% in line with the rally in major bank stocks.
