Foreign Capital Inflows Surge to US$8.5 Billion in Q2, Says Bank Indonesia

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Destry Damayanti announced that foreign capital inflows reached US$8.5 billion in the second quarter of 2026. The incoming funds were largely channelled into government securities (SBN) and Bank Indonesia Rupiah Securities (SRBI). “This inflow continued into the third quarter of 2026, in line with rising yields,” Destry stated during a Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) press conference on Monday (3/8/2026). In line with the returning capital flows, the rupiah strengthened to Rp 17,994 per US dollar on 31 July 2026, after having weakened in mid-June 2026.
