Foreign Banks Already Selling US Dollar at Rp 17,300

Jakarta — The value of the rupiah continues to weaken, approaching Rp17,000 per US dollar. The domestic currency opened the first trading day of the week on Monday, 9 March 2026, depreciating 0.47% to Rp16,980/USD.

This depreciation continues the downward trend from the previous week’s trading on Friday, 6 March 2026, when the rupiah closed 0.15% weaker at Rp16,900/USD.

In tandem with this development, Indonesian banks have begun selling US dollars at Rp17,000. Some banks are even quoting rates exceeding Rp17,305.
