Forbes Releases World's Best Banks 2026, Featuring 18 Indonesian Banks

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Forbes magazine has released the World’s Best Banks 2026 list, which includes 410 of the best banks from 34 countries. The list features 18 Indonesian banks among the world’s top performers.

The rankings were compiled by Forbes in collaboration with research firm Statista through a survey of more than 54,000 banking customers across 34 countries conducted in October-November 2025.

Survey participants were asked to evaluate banks where they currently hold current or savings accounts from the past three years, or those they know through family or friends.

Respondents rated the banks on various aspects, including trust levels, digital services, customer service, fees and terms of service, and the quality of financial advice.

Forbes noted that customer trust was the most important factor in this year’s assessment, followed by digital services and customer service quality.

In its report, Forbes also evaluated digital transformation as one of the primary factors determining the competitiveness of the global banking industry. Many banks on the top list were praised for successfully integrating digital services with robust customer care.

“Overall, the banks with the highest final scores in their countries made it onto our list, comprising 410 banks worldwide,” Forbes stated on its official website, as quoted on Monday (11/5/2026).

Meanwhile, three banks not included in the World’s Best Banks 2025 list claimed the number one spots this year: Banco Consorcio in Chile, Die Sparkasse Bremen in Germany, and Bank of New Zealand in New Zealand.

Additionally, 18 major national banks are included on the list, such as PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI, and several digital banks like PT Bank Seabank Indonesia.
