For the First Time, Two Tourist Attractions in Bali to Host World-Class Extreme Sports Championship
Indonesia has been chosen as one of the hosts for the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, marking the first time the country will host this extreme sports competition.
The international acrobatic cliff diving event will open the 2026 season in Bali from May 20-23.
“Red Bull Cliff Diving has taken us to various exotic locations around the world, from beautiful cliffs to hidden natural pools,” said Rhiannan Iffland, the seven-time Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series champion, in an official statement received by Kompas.com on Wednesday (February 25, 2026).
The competition for the King Kahekili Trophy will be held at two tourist attractions in Bali, namely in the middle of the dense tropical forest of Air Terjun Kroya, Buleleng.
And at Tebing T-Rex at Pantai Kelingking Nusa Penida, Klungkung, which will witness the adrenaline-pumping final match, where athletes will acrobatically jump into the Indian Ocean with a backdrop of exotic cliffs.
The 2026 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series will be participated by 24 world-class male and female cliff diving athletes from various countries such as Australia, the United States, Canada, France, Romania, Mexico, and others.
In addition to Rhiannan Iffland, several famous names will also compete in the Bali series, including Gary Hunt, a Red Bull Cliff Diving legend with 80 podium finishes in 104 competitions, and Constantin Popovici, the holder of the highest score record in the history of the competition.
These athletes will compete to showcase their best acrobatic techniques from cliffs 27 meters high (men’s category) and 21 meters high (women’s category), almost three times higher than Olympic diving, with a falling speed of about 85 kilometers per hour.
Looking back at last year, the 2025 Red Bull Cliff Diving championship was watched more than 3.3 billion times on social media, making this a great opportunity to promote Bali’s tourism.
Red Bull has also partnered with the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) as a strategic partner for this world-class extreme sports event.
The support from the Indonesian Navy will cover various technical, operational, and security aspects during the preparation phase and on the day of the competition, ensuring Indonesia’s readiness as the host of the 2026 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.
