Kompas.com – As Ramadan 1447 Hijri/2026 approaches, the Sinar Mas Muslim Foundation (YMSM) is conducting a cross-sectoral humanitarian initiative.

This effort is realised through the donation of 1,000 copies of the Quran to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Navy for distribution to soldiers in the outermost islands.

Member of the YMSM Board of Trustees, Marsetio, said that the Indonesian Navy would help distribute the Qurans to places of worship on several Indonesian Warships (KRI), naval bases, and Navy housing, including those in the outermost islands.

“Hopefully, during this Ramadan, our brothers and sisters will have more opportunities to engage in Quranic recitation to understand and appreciate the values contained in the Quran,” he said in a written statement received by Kompas.com.

This was revealed by Marsetio after the symbolic handover to the Commander of the Indonesian Fleet Command (Pangkoarmada RI), Rear Admiral TNI Denih Hendrata, on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (25/2/2026).

At that time, the First Fleet Command in Tanjung Pinang, the Second Fleet Command in Surabaya, and the Third Fleet Command in Sorong supported the distribution of all the Qurans.

Also present at the event, which took place at the Indonesian Fleet Command Headquarters, were the Commander of the Marine Combat Fleet, Rear Admiral TNI Rudhi Aviantara, and the leadership of the Indonesian Fleet Command. From the foundation, the YMSM Supervisory Board, Achmad Rusdi, was present.

Previously, YMSM also donated more than 1,000 copies of the Quran to the Central Executive Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah during a gathering at the Muhammadiyah University of Tangerang (UMT), Banten, Tuesday (24/2/2026).

On that occasion, the Chairman of YMSM, Saleh Husin, together with the Director of APP Group, Agus Wahyudi, handed over the Qurans to the Treasurer of the PP Muhammadiyah, Hilman Latief.

As with previous donations, all the Qurans distributed through the support of the PP Muhammadiyah will be passed on to several places of worship, educational institutions, and religious study groups.

Meanwhile, Saleh said that printed Qurans are still difficult to replace with other formats.

“Printed Qurans are difficult to replace because of their ease of use and durability, especially in use in the forefront and outermost areas,” he said.

The donation of Qurans is a routine activity of YMSM, involving various business pillars under the Sinar Mas umbrella.

The distribution is carried out in collaboration with the government, the TNI and Polri, religious institutions, educational institutions, community leaders, and professional communities.

For information, YMSM was formed to accommodate open, tolerant, equal, and loving Islamic practices within the Sinar Mas environment.

YMSM hopes that this activity can strengthen religious values while encouraging work productivity.

For the wider community, YMSM also encourages the establishment of good relations and synergy with figures and institutions through various social and educational activities.
