For or against
For or against
From Pikiran Rakyat
The Attorney General's Office clearly and firmly "conferred" the status of suspect on Arifin Panigoro, who, it said, was involved in practices of corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) that caused the state to lose billions of rupiah.
Meanwhile, there is the case of Tommy Soeharto, who through PT Timor and other enterprises, was also believed to be involved in KKN practices (via presidential decrees) and also caused the state losses to the tune of trillions of rupiah. The difference is that nothing has been "conferred" on him. He remains a respectable citizen.
Huh? My friends are confused now. How is it possible? Both gentlemen were involved in KKN; one is a suspect, while the other is respected.
I pitied my friends. We held a long discussion, and after a number of sharp debates the answer to the problem was found.
The simple explanation is: Arifin Panigoro is proreform and Tommy Soeharto is antireform.
Life is exciting in our country!
