Information on study in Japan
The Japanese government is making efforts to increase the
number of foreign students studying in Japan as a way to nurture
and strengthen friendships with other countries.
A survey conducted up to May 2002 disclosed that 95,550
foreign students were studying in Japan, of which 1,441 were
Indonesians.
Information on study in Japan, particularly the Mombukagakusho
scholarship, is available at the Education (Information) Section,
at the Embassy of Japan and Japanese consulates. More wide-
ranging and detailed information on study in Japan is available
at the Association of International Education, Japan (AIEJ), a
foundation established for the sole purpose of providing
information on study in Japan to foreign students interested in
studying in Japan, or for Japanese students interested in
studying abroad.
AIEJ opened a branch office in Jakarta in October 1996 and
holds an annual Japan Education Fair.
