Food Prices Today: Bird's Eye Chilli Hits Rp77,950 per Kg, Becoming the Most Expensive Food Commodity
Jakarta – The price of bird’s eye chilli remains one of the highest among food commodities at the national retail level. Based on the latest data from the National Strategic Food Price Information Centre (PIHPS) managed by Bank Indonesia, the price of bird’s eye chilli reached Rp77,950 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the price of purebred chicken eggs was recorded at Rp29,800 per kg. The data was released by PIHPS on Friday (12/6/2026) at 09.40 WIB and reflects price developments for various basic necessities across several regions in Indonesia.
In addition to bird’s eye chilli, a number of other horticultural commodities also remain at relatively high levels, particularly the chilli and shallot groups which are daily staples for the public. Based on PIHPS data, the price of shallots was recorded at Rp57,300 per kg, while garlic was sold at around Rp43,400 per kg. For the chilli group, the price of large red chillies reached Rp60,300 per kg, curly red chillies were at Rp58,650 per kg, and green bird’s eye chillies reached Rp50,500 per kg. The price of bird’s eye chilli was the highest compared to other major food commodities monitored by PIHPS.
PIHPS also recorded rice prices according to different quality categories. For lower-quality rice, prices ranged from Rp14,450 to Rp14,950 per kg. Meanwhile, medium-quality rice was priced at Rp16,000 per kg for both monitored categories. Super-quality rice remained the most expensive type within the rice commodity group.
